My Onion Soup Meatloaf
An easy to make flavorful meatloaf

Equipment
- 1 13 x 9-inch baking or roasting pan
- 1 baking sheet optional
- 1 Mixing bowl Large
Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1.5 lbs ground beef optional
- .5 lbs sausage optional. Can add flavor
- 2 pkt Lipton Onion Soup Mix
- 3/4 cup bread crumbs Italian flavor
- 2 each eggs
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup ketchup add more as desired
- 2 Tbs Accent optional
- 1 ea bell pepper optional
- 4 ounce Cheese, Cheddar or American or other, diced optional
- 4 ounce mushrooms, sliced or diced optional
- 3 Tbs beef suet, ground optional
- 1 cup french fried onions optional. One cup may be too much, try less if you like.
- 1 ea jalapeno pepper optional. I sometimes use two peppers
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 F, 177 C.
- In your large mixing bowl combine all the ingredients and mix.
- If you are using your loaf pan, put the mixture in and form a loaf
- If you are using a baking sheet, pour the mixture on the sheet and mold into a loaf, or two loaves.
- optional - let rest 30 minutes at room temperature
- optional - sprinkle french fried onions over the top of the loaf
- Cover the loaf top well with the ketchup glaze
- Bake 1 hour, it should be over 160 F degrees internally
- Let rest outside the oven for at least 15 minutes. Add more ketchup if you would like.
Notes
This is an easy way to make a tasty meatloaf. The Lipton Soup packets contain a lot of flavor, and you can add other ingredients to make it your own too. Meatloaf is the same concept as stew. There is the base of meat, you then add what you want to make it yours.
I like to add in some extra pepper flavor. Instead of a bell pepper I will go with one or two jalapeno peppers, or poblano or other peppers that add that special kick. Â
